TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT

Training and Development (T&D) is considered, in a learning organization, the heart of continuous efforts.  Designed to improve employee competencies and thus the organizational performance by providing learners with the knowledge and skills needed for their present jobs and further beyond to develop today´s job as a long term focus.  Aiming to increase motivation, productivity, performance and to achieve the organizational objectives in a changing environment which factors influence T&D.  T&D needs and objectives should be set, before choosing the most effective method and delivery system, implementing and evaluating the T&D programs and Management Development.  T&D is considered as a long term investment rather than an overhead.

Conventional T&D is required to cover essential work-related skills, techniques and knowledge (KPSA).  Importantly however, the most effective way to develop people is quite different from conventional skills training, which let´s face it many employees regard quite negatively.  The most effective way to develop people is instead to enable T&D, with all that this implies.  Organizations are facing great pressure to change these days - to facilitate and encourage personnel development and fulfillment - beyond traditional training.

(A) One Shot: one training for one time
(B) Continual Training: same training subject given 3 times/year
(C) Training Package: different training subjects with a minimum of 4 trainings/year
